You want a pool. Not a lawsuit.

Click play above to hear more about why an excise tax just won't work and why Voting no will keep our dream of a pool alive. To learn more about how we've given back to Canon City, and why we're fighting City Council's short-sighted tax scheme.
2B is another attempt to grab more of our hard-earned dollars by taxing our local economy and the events, festivals, parks, museums, landmarks, rafting, tours and guiding services that support Cañon City families and make our region a wonderful place to live and visit. The City claims only tourists will pay. Don’t be tricked.
Everyone in Cañon City—including hardworking residents and family-owned small businesses—will pay.
Unless we vote NO on 2B!
2B is the City’s backdoor tax scheme to fund the new pool. But we’re already paying millions for the pool through a massive $42 million sales tax increase. And the Recreation District is racking up to $44 million in debt payments just to build the pool.
Now the City wants even more from our wallets.
The City believes the railroad will pay. But federal law specifically exempts railways from this tax. The City wants to fight it out in court—using your tax dollars to pay lawyers to sue a local business.
That will leave local families who want to enjoy our attractions paying this tax and family-owned small businesses forced to increase prices, cut jobs or leave town.
Enough is enough!
Don’t be tricked! You WILL pay this tax!
